[Ancient Gold Appraisal] Buying and selling Sun Yat-sen Republic of China Founding Commemorative Coin One Yuan / Sun Yat-sen Small Head with Five Stars Silver Coin

In 1912, the first year of the Republic of China, the Nanjing Mint, acting on orders from the Ministry of Finance, began minting the first commemorative coin bearing the portrait of Sun Yat-sen. The obverse features a profile portrait of Sun Yat-sen in the center, surrounded by a double-ring design (an inner circle and an outer circle with dots). Above the edge is inscribed the four characters "中华民国" (Republic of China) in clerical script, and below are the five characters "开国纪念币" (Commemorative Coin for the Founding of the Republic) in clerical script, flanked by long-branch floral patterns. The reverse features the characters "壹圆" (One Yuan) vertically in clerical script and a grain sheaf design in the center; it is also surrounded by a double-ring design (an inner circle and an outer circle with dots). Above the edge is inscribed "THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA," and below is inscribed "ONE DOLLAR." Five-pointed stars are positioned on the lower left and right sides, hence the name "lower five-pointed star version." The coin's characteristics include: the five-pointed stars are located at the bottom, the stars on both sides are correctly positioned, the spacing between the stars and the English text is relatively close, and there are no errors in the English lettering. After Yuan Shikai usurped the throne and became the president, the minting of this coin was quickly stopped. Due to its short minting period and limited circulation, it is particularly valuable.

Currently, the price of Sun Yat-sen commemorative coins for the founding of the People's Republic of China is steadily rising in the collector's market, especially for silver coins in good condition, which can fetch tens of thousands of yuan or even higher. Their rarity and historical value make them a top priority in silver coin collecting and extremely sought-after collectibles on the market.
