[Ancient Gold Appraisal] Buying and selling Sun Yat-sen portrait silver coins - Sun Yat-sen small head Republic of China founding commemorative coin with double flags on the reverse, two jiao.

The Republic of China was founded in 1912, with Sun Yat-sen assuming the position of Provisional President. However, this position was later usurped by Yuan Shikai, who, despite becoming President, unfortunately died after only 83 days in office. In the same year, the Nanjing Mint produced the Republic of China Founding Commemorative Coin, a two-cent silver coin with an English version featuring Sun Yat-sen's portrait on the reverse, commonly known as the "English version of Sun Yat-sen's small head." The obverse features two Republic of China flags within a beaded circle, tied by a thin ribbon, with the words "Republic of China" inscribed above and "Founding Commemorative Coin" at the bottom, flanked by floral decorations. The reverse features a profile portrait of Sun Yat-sen, with the English words "MEMENTO" above and "BIRTH OF REPUBLIC OF CHINA" below. Each side is decorated with a six-pointed star. The overall design is simple and dignified. The coin is 24 mm in diameter, weighs 5.3 grams, and has a serrated edge.

This coin is an early Sun Yat-sen commemorative coin for the founding of the People's Republic of China. Extremely rare, it is a highly sought-after collectible, consistently fetching record prices at domestic auctions and widely recognized as one of the most valuable and rarest 2-jiao subsidiary coins. In addition, there are other versions of the commemorative coin featuring Sun Yat-sen's portrait, such as those with six stars above and five stars below, collectively known as the "Sun Yat-sen Small Head Founding Commemorative Coin," which also have multiple variations.
