The Fengtian Provincial Mint is currently the oldest mint in China, primarily producing circulating coins and gold and silver commemorative coins. According to records, in the 22nd year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign (1893), based on a petition from Shengjing General Yiketanga, the establishment and construction of the Fengtian Machinery Bureau were approved to mint machine-made silver coins. Boilers and steam-powered minting machines were imported from Germany, and the Fengtian Machinery Bureau was officially completed in the 23rd year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign (1897). The predecessor of the "Fengtian Silver Coin Manufacturing Bureau" was the "Fengtian Machinery Bureau."
