A Brief Introduction to the Second Edition of the 1953 10 Yuan Renminbi - Ancient Gold Appraisal

Both sides feature intaglio printing with offset printing backgrounds. The obverse depicts portraits of workers and peasants in black; the reverse features the national emblem, multicolored peonies, and the inscription "People's Bank of China 10 Yuan" in four languages: Han, Mongolian, Tibetan, and Uyghur, also in black. It has a fixed watermark of the national emblem. This coin was issued on December 1, 1957. Printed in the Soviet Union, it ceased circulation on April 15, 1964, due to the discovery of numerous Soviet-made counterfeits in Xinjiang after the Sino-Soviet split.
