The 1956 Yellow 5 Yuan note comes in two versions: one with a seagull watermark and the other without. The "Seagull Watermark 5 Yuan" note has only two serial number groups, IV VIII (158) and IV IX (159), totaling 12 serial numbers. All other serial numbers are "Yellow 5 Yuan" notes. The watermark of the "Seagull Watermark 5 Yuan" note is a mixture of solid five-pointed stars and seagulls, while the watermark of the "Yellow 5 Yuan" note is a hollow five-pointed star.
