[Ancient Gold Appraisal] Buyback of the 24th Year of the Republic of China Ship Dollar | 1 Yuan with Sun Yat-sen Portrait on a Sailboat

Historical background of the 1935 (Republic of China Year 24) Sun Yat-sen portrait sailboat one dollar:

In 1935 (the 24th year of the Republic of China), the Shanghai Mint prepared to mint a Sun Yat-sen portrait sailing ship one-yuan silver coin for circulation. However, the sample coins were minted at a time when international silver prices were soaring, causing the material cost of the trial-minted coins to exceed their face value. To avoid losses, the Nationalist government decided to reduce the weight and size of the coins. However, by the time the new coin molds were completed, it was already early 1936 (the 25th year of the Republic of China). Therefore, only a few of the large sample coins from the 24th year of the Republic of China survive, making them extremely rare. The small sailing ship sample coins from the 25th year of the Republic of China are also few in number and occasionally seen on the market. Most Chinese coin collectors are only familiar with these two versions. The former, due to its extremely limited number of surviving examples, has become a highly prized item in the coin collecting world, while the latter, although slightly more common, is still a rare find and possesses significant historical and collectible value.
