Item details and appraisal notes
Before valuing the PRC 50th Anniversary three-note uncut sheet, separate its format and serial details from its present paper condition. Photograph the joined sheet before handling it; complete margins, print, numbering and damage matter more than making the paper look flatter or cleaner.
Stated identity and open details
| Evidence point | What is supported |
|---|---|
| Category | Commemorative banknote; uncut sheet |
| Issue year | Not stated |
| Denomination | Not stated |
| Joined format | PRC 50th Anniversary; three joined notes |
| Evidence boundary | Read the issue year, denomination and serial details from the complete sheet or surviving issue material; do not borrow them from another anniversary note. |
Showing the complete three-note format
Overall arrangement: Start with uncropped views of both sides so all three joined notes and every outer margin can be seen. Keep the anniversary design and sheet format separate from any unstated year or denomination.
Dimensions and numbering: Measure the full sheet without forcing it flat. Where prefixes or serial numbers are legible, show their positions, the joined edges, printed values and inscriptions. Every close-up should be easy to locate on the full-sheet image.
Paper condition and accessories: Locate folds, foxing, pinholes, edge splits, water staining, washing, pressing and repairs. If a folder, tube, booklet or certificate survives, photograph it on its own and beside the sheet, without treating its wording as proof.
Accurate colour without extra handling
Support the sheet on a dry, clean surface and photograph both faces, the perimeter and numbers in neutral light. Record a watermark or other paper feature only when it is actually visible. A ruler may show scale but should not touch a fragile edge. Do not force the sheet flat. Do not separate the notes or attempt to remove stains.
Three details worth a closer look
| Area | What to photograph |
|---|---|
| Surviving presentation material | If an original folder, tube, booklet or certificate is present, show its condition and how it accompanies the sheet. Do not assume that such material always survives. |
| Serial arrangement | Where a prefix or serial number is legible, capture it at readable size and show its place within the three-note layout. Leave covered or unclear characters unresolved, and do not assume that the numbers are consecutive. |
| Folds and joined edges | Use the full-sheet view to locate folds, splits, pinholes, stains and repaired areas, especially where the notes join and along the outer margins. |

Uncut-sheet handling and storage
For handling joined paper, review Silver Dollars and First–Fourth Series Renminbi alongside Renminbi Uncut Sheets: Layout, Dimensions and Condition Records. Apply the guidance without separating this three-note sheet or forcing it flat.

Questions before an appraisal
What should you check before selling?
What matters depends on the item. Photograph both sides, the edge, hallmarks or base marks, and any damage. Include the original box, certificate or weight information where relevant so we can decide whether an in-person inspection is needed.
