Item details and appraisal notes

This material is identified by three fractional denominations—1 Jiao, 2 Jiao and 5 Jiao—and a four-note uncut format. The wording does not establish the series, issue year, number of surviving units or distribution of the denominations, so those points must be read from the surviving material.

1, 2 and 5 Jiao material: separate value from arrangement

Evidence pointWhat can be established without guessing
Stated identityCommemorative uncut banknote material
Issue year and seriesNot stated
Denominations1 Jiao, 2 Jiao and 5 Jiao
Joined formatFour-note wording; component allocation remains open
Evidence boundaryDo not assign a currency series, expected sheet count, matching serial structure or album contents from a different fractional-denomination set.

Map each fractional value to the material that carries it

Denomination distribution: Begin with an uncropped view of every surviving unit, then locate each 1 Jiao, 2 Jiao and 5 Jiao value within that arrangement. If pieces overlap, photograph their boundaries separately before suggesting how they belong together.

Four-note evidence: Count four attached positions only on a unit whose full layout supports it. Keep every outer margin and internal gutter visible; a concealed component must not inherit the count of the sheet above it.

Paper condition: Compare colour, folds, edge wear, pinholes, stains, thinning and repairs denomination by denomination. A close image should identify its exact unit and position so condition from the 1 Jiao material is not transferred to the other values.

Distinguish denomination, position and accessory evidence

Visible units: Establish how many separate pieces remain and which values each one contains. The three denominations do not by themselves prove three complete sheets.

Numbers and paper features: Where prefixes or serials are readable, photograph them with the surrounding value and joined position. Only a safely visible watermark should be described; do not infer one from denomination.

Surviving presentation material: If a folder, album leaf, sleeve or certificate remains associated, show it beside the corresponding unit after photographing it separately. Its captions cannot settle a concealed layout.

Store the fractional-denomination material as found

Support each unit independently and retain its received orientation. Do not force a fold flat, and do not separate joined notes. Avoid stacking an accessory directly on a weak gutter or using adhesive to hold a curl open.

Guidance for mixed-denomination uncut material

For handling context, browse Silver Dollars and First–Fourth Series Renminbi and consult Renminbi Uncut Sheets: Layout, Dimensions and Condition Records. Apply the safe methods while letting the surviving units determine their own values, count and condition.

Questions before an appraisal

What should you check before selling?

What matters depends on the item. Photograph both sides, the edge, hallmarks or base marks, and any damage. Include the original box, certificate or weight information where relevant so we can decide whether an in-person inspection is needed.

Questions sellers often askOpen a question to read the answer

What is actually supported for the 1, 2 and 5 Jiao uncut material?

The three denominations and four-note wording are supported. The series, issue year, number of surviving units and allocation of values remain open until complete views establish them.

Does each denomination automatically represent a complete four-note sheet?

No. Count attached positions separately on every visible unit and map each value to its own arrangement. Do not infer a missing component or duplicate another sheet's layout.

How should the units, numbers and accessories be handled?

Do not force any unit flat or separate joined notes. Show serials only where readable, use a watermark only when visible and include an album leaf or certificate only if it remains associated.
