Item details and appraisal notes
This Fourth Series Renminbi material is associated with 2 Yuan, 5 Yuan and a four-note uncut format. The wording does not settle how the denominations are distributed among the surviving units. Both the unit count and denomination distribution remain open until the complete arrangement is visible.
Fourth Series 2 and 5 Yuan material: resolve the format first
| Evidence point | What the surviving material should answer |
|---|---|
| Stated series | Fourth Series Renminbi commemorative banknotes |
| Issue year | Not stated |
| Denominations | 2 Yuan and 5 Yuan |
| Joined format | Four-note wording; its relationship to the two values must be checked |
| Evidence boundary | Do not assume that both denominations, two sheets, matching prefixes or a complete album are present. Establish every component from the material at hand. |
Distinguish the two values before comparing their joined positions
Denomination arrangement: Begin with uncropped views that show every visible unit and outer edge. Locate each printed 2 Yuan or 5 Yuan value within its own complete arrangement, leaving the component count unresolved until the full material can be reconciled.
Position count and borders: Count four attached positions only where a unit visibly supports that format. Trace its internal joins and perimeter; if a fold or mount hides part of the layout, do not apply the four-note count to a second component by analogy.
Condition mapping: Keep creases, tears, stains, pinholes, thinning, repairs and trimmed edges tied to the correct denomination and position. Photograph the two values at consistent scale so details from one unit cannot be mistaken for the other.
Questions to settle before comparing the two values
- Physical units
- Determine from complete views whether one or more sheets are present and which denomination appears on each. Separate photographs are needed when pieces overlap.
- Serial evidence
- Where prefixes or serial numbers are legible, show them within the correct denomination and joined position. Similar digits do not establish a matching or consecutive relationship.
- Associated material
- If a folder, booklet, sleeve or certificate remains with the banknotes, show each component separately and in place. It cannot prove an absent sheet or complete a covered number.
Support each visible unit without rearranging it
Let the paper rest in its received orientation. Do not force a fold or mount flat, and do not separate joined notes. Use transmitted light for a watermark only when the feature is actually visible and the unit can be supported safely.
Other formats that cannot settle this arrangement
Category and storage guidance
To understand large joined formats, browse Silver Dollars and First–Fourth Series Renminbi and review Renminbi Uncut Sheets: Layout, Dimensions and Condition Records. The 2 Yuan and 5 Yuan material must still supply its own unit count, values, numbers and condition.
For help separating denomination evidence from format and accessory evidence, contact About Gu Jin Jian Bao | Collection Enquiries. Share uncropped views of every visible unit through WhatsApp 9834 2057, or call +852 9834 2057. Quote “Fourth Series 2 and 5 Yuan joined material” and state which component, edge or value remains concealed.

Questions before an appraisal
What should you check before selling?
What matters depends on the item. Photograph both sides, the edge, hallmarks or base marks, and any damage. Include the original box, certificate or weight information where relevant so we can decide whether an in-person inspection is needed.
