Official details for the Second Series 10-yuan note
People's Bank of China material states that the Second Series 10-yuan note was issued on 1957-12-01, withdrawn on 1964-05-15 and measures 210 × 85 mm. Its front shows a worker and peasant; the reverse includes the national emblem and multicoloured peonies, with black as the main colour on both sides.
Da Hei Shi is a collector name; formal identification begins with Second Series Renminbi 10 yuan. Do not transfer the dates or dimensions of the Second Series 3-yuan or 5-yuan notes to it.
Begin with the complete note
Photograph front and back under even neutral light with the camera parallel to the paper. Keep all corners, edges, designs and the full serial string visible before close-ups of the worker-peasant image, wording, emblem, peonies or damage.
Measure the note itself, excluding any sleeve or frame. Record folds, tears, missing corners, stains, mould, tape, recolouring and pressing separately under normal, low-angle and transmitted light, without hiding them through editing.
Assess printing and paper together
Compare lettering, background pattern, design layers, paper fibres and visible transmitted-light features. Touch, darkness or a single design element cannot establish a conclusion, and white balance or an old sleeve can shift apparent colour.
If the paper has been washed, ironed, filled or trimmed, its texture and edges may have changed. Preserve the present state and keep measurements, complete faces, transmitted light and details under one note number.
Prevent further change during storage
Store the note flat in a suitably sized, stable enclosure away from humidity, sunlight, heat and pressure. Avoid water, cleaners, tape, lamination, ironing and repeated folding; isolate mould or adhesion while the environment is stabilised.
A complete description includes the official name, issue and withdrawal dates, size, full designs, serial details, transmitted-light areas and all damage. Direct examination may still be necessary.
A focused Da Hei Shi check
Keep the 210 × 85 mm dimensions with the measuring tool and unit, and attach every transmitted-light view to the same complete note.
Number each example before recording the Second Series, 10-yuan denomination, visible date wording, worker-peasant design, serial and condition.
Every reading needs its tool and unit, and every enlargement must be locatable on an uncropped face. Leave a conclusion open whenever one element is missing.
Explain any reason for opening, contact or testing before it occurs. Maintain the original packaging and paper surface until informed consent is obtained.
