Yuan Shikai One Yuan Commemorative Coins from the Founding of the Republic of China Buyback | Gu Jin Jian Bao
藏品詳情與估價重點
The Yuan Shikai Founding Commemorative Coin is one of the extremely rare and important pattern coins from the Republic of China era. This pattern coin was issued in 1912, during the early days of the Republic. The portrait on the coin was once mistakenly identified as warlord Cheng Dequan of Suzhou. For Chinese coin collectors, the Yuan Shikai Founding Commemorative Coin has always been considered a mysterious coin. Its mysterious nature lies in the fact that its minting location and time are unclear, and the identity of who ordered its minting and the prototype of the portrait on the coin are also unknown. The coin's design clearly follows the style of the Sun Yat-sen and Li Yuanhong Founding Commemorative Coins of 1912. The obverse features a three-quarter portrait of a man, with a double border, floral and leaf motifs on both sides, and the four characters"Zhong Hua Republic of China"(Republic of China) inscribed. Below are the five characters"Kai Guo Ji Nian Bi"(Founding Commemorative Coin). The reverse features the vertical inscription"Yi Yuan"(One Yuan) in the center, flanked by auspicious grains (Jiahe), also with a double border. The English inscription"THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA"is engraved at the top of the rim, and"ONE DOLLAR"is at the bottom. The design and inscriptions on both the obverse and reverse of this coin imitate the 1912 Li Yuanhong and Sun Yat-sen Founding Commemorative Coins, with only the portrait being different and the English part on the reverse not separated by stars.

Four Core Factors Affecting the Buyback and Grading Price of Old Silver Dollars
When conductinghigh-value silver dollar buybacksor auction consignments, even for commemorative coins of the same variety, their actual value can vary significantly due to the following factors. Understanding thesecoin gradingstandards can help you more accurately estimate the value of your collection:
- Condition:This is the lifeline that determines the price. The degree of wear on the coin's design, presence of circulation marks, chop marks, or repair traces, all directly affect the final pricing. The price difference between uncirculated (UNC) and circulated (XF/VF) conditions can range from several times to dozens of times.
- Original Luster Retention:Silver coins that retain their original mint luster after a hundred years are extremely rare. Coins with original luster often achieve high scores inPCGS or NGC international gradingand are one of the most important indicators for high-end buyers.
- Variety Details:Although this coin itself is a rare pattern coin, if there are subtle variations in die characteristics (such as the thickness of the characters or the details of the auspicious grains), it may become a unique piece in the eyes of specialized collectors.
- Surface Maintenance:Professionalold silver dollar maintenanceemphasizes"originality."Avoid privately cleaning silver coins with brass polish, toothpaste, or acidic liquids."Cleaned coins"with damaged historical patina will see their market value significantly reduced. We recommend keeping them as-is and entrusting them to professional institutions for non-destructive authentication.
