Item details and appraisal notes
A single 1980 T46 Year of the Monkey stamp is also the complete one-stamp set, but it is not an intact 80-stamp sheet. Check the issue details first, then its perforations, gum and album history. Do not improve an aged appearance by cleaning or lifting the stamp.

Checking one Monkey stamp
Design and format: Show the whole stamp before any close-up. The 1980 issue, T46 code, Monkey design and 8-fen value should agree, with every edge and perforation visible.
Front, gum and size: Photograph the design, denomination and inscriptions in neutral light, then turn to the gum and measure 26 × 31 mm without obscuring an edge. If it is mounted in an album, include the full page before photographing a hinge or thin.
Condition details: Locate yellowing, foxing, creases, missing perforations, stains, disturbed gum and adhering paper. Handle the stamp with proper tongs; preserve any old annotation but keep it separate from the current assessment.
Photography and safe handling
Take uncropped front-and-back images, followed by the four corners, P11.5 perforations and any surviving margin. Do not pull the stamp from an album, touch the gum with bare fingers or use water on a stained area.
Details worth enlarging
| Monkey stamp condition area | What the photograph should establish |
|---|---|
| Perforations and margin | P11.5 around the individual stamp |
| Complete-set status | T46 comprises one design, so one genuine stamp is the complete set. Do not describe a single stamp as an intact 80-stamp sheet. |
| Album condition | Show a hinge, mount, sleeve or adhering album paper before moving anything. Damp or brittle material should remain undisturbed. |

Care guidance and category pages
A single T46 stamp can be handled using Collectible Stamps and the practical notes in Stamp Mould: Isolation, Documentation and Storage Limits. Keep the loose Monkey stamp distinct from an intact sheet.
To submit the uncropped stamp and gum image, contact About Gu Jin Jian Bao | Collection Enquiries. You may attach both views by WhatsApp 9834 2057, or call +852 9834 2057. Identify it as “T46 single” and note a hinge, thin or missing tooth first.

Questions before an appraisal
What should you check before selling?
What matters depends on the item. Photograph both sides, the edge, hallmarks or base marks, and any damage. Include the original box, certificate or weight information where relevant so we can decide whether an in-person inspection is needed.
